The positive effect of kindness on the immune system and on the increased production of serotonin in the brain has been proven in research studies.
Serotonin is a naturally occurring substance in the body that makes us feel more comfortable, peaceful, and even blissful.
In fact, the role of most anti-depressants is to stimulate the production of serotonin chemically, helping to ease depression.
Research has shown that a simple act of kindness directed toward another improves the functioning of the immune system and stimulates the production of serotonin in both the recipient of the kindness and the person extending the kindness.
Even more amazing is that persons observing the act of kindness have similar beneficial results.
Imagine this!
Kindness extended, received, or observed beneficially impacts the physical health and feelings of everyone involved!"
Thank God for the little things That fill our hearts with love, For all of these reminders Sent from Heaven up above...
For snowflakes that fall To cover the ground, For the fire we've made And it's warm crackling sound.
For a cup of hot cocoa, A spot of cider or tea, Or perhaps maybe just A simple mug of coffee.
I'm thankful for all Of the different ways To warm one's heart On a cold winter's day.
For the comforts Of our home so sweet, A snuggly warm bed And soul food to eat.
For the children all playing Out in the bright snow, And how their smiles Set my heart aglow.
For the songs we sing Of joy, peace and love; For good tidings we pray To our Father above.
Though it surely may be Quite frigid outside, We will always be warm With the Lord as our guide.
For all the joy His kindness brings; I find my sprits lifted up, For He truly gives my soul it's wings.
Oh, thank you Lord, For all of winter's little blessings...
Love & Blessings

When you feel yourself starting to beat yourself up about something, there’s a very simple technique that can help ease it. Pretend you are your best friend. How would you talk to your friend? You would never tell your best friend the things you tell yourself. You’d never treat anybody the way you treat yourself. You wouldn’t talk to somebody you love that way, would you? Give yourself the compassion, friendship, and support that you would to anyone you care about.

Happy middle of the week! Wouldn't you agree to this ...what's life without the love of a good friend? The friends that make you laugh, the ones that listen to you when no one else does, the ones that un-unselfishly will let you cry, the ones that keep your hope alive when all you see is a dark tunnel ahead of you... and mostly the ones that let you be you and.. love you for who you are no matter what.

A Soldier’s Silent Night
Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone, In a one bedroom house made of plaster and stone. I had come down the chimney with presents to give, And just to see who in this home did live.
I looked all about, a strange sight I did see, No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree. No stocking by the mantel, just boots filled with sand, On the wall hung pictures, of far distant lands. With medals and badges, awards of all kinds, A sober thought came through my mind.
For this house was different, it was dark and dreary. I found the home of a soldier, once I could see clearly. The soldier lay sleeping, silent, alone, Curled up on the floor in this one bedroom home.
The face was so gentle, the room in such disorder, Not how I pictured a United States soldier. Was this the hero of whom I’d just read? Curled up on a poncho, the floor for a bed? I realized the families that I saw this night, Owed their lives to these soldiers who were willing to fight.
Soon round the world, the children would play, And grownups would celebrate a bright Christmas day. They all enjoyed freedom each month of the year, Because of the soldiers, like the one lying here. I couldn’t help wonder how many lay alone, On a cold Christmas eve in a land far from home.
The very thought brought a tear to my eye, I dropped to me knees and started to cry; The soldier awakened and I heard a rough voice, “Santa don’t cry, this life is my choice; I fight for freedom, I don’t ask for more, My life is my god, my country, my corps.”
The soldier rolled over and drifted to sleep, I couldn’t control it, I continued to weep. I kept watch for hours, so silent and still, And we both shivered from the cold night’s chill. I didn’t want to leave on that cold, dark, night, This guardian of honor so willing to fight.
Then the soldier rolled over, with a voice soft and pure, Whispered, “Carry on Santa, it’s Christmas day, all is secure.” One look at my watch, and I knew he was right. “Merry Christmas my friend, and to all a good night.”
This poem was written by a Marine Lance Corporal James M. Schmidt in 1987 under the title "Merry Christmas, My Friend." The following is his request. I think it is reasonable PLEASE.
Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our service men and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do your small part to plant this small seed ************** The audio recording of this adapted version was recorded by Father Ted Berndt and his daughter Ellen Stout. Father Berndt was a priest at Bread of Life Charismatic Episcopal Church in Dousman, Wisconsin, a proud Marine, and a WWII Purple Heart recipient. The poem was recorded in one take. The recording received a national A.I.R. (Achievement in Radio) award from the March of Dimes and continues to be played in radio stations across the country. Father Berndt passed away March 19th, 2004 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. According to his daughter, "All he ever wanted to do was touch lives...to make a difference. We are blessed to share "A Soldier's Silent Night" again with you this Christmas."

I’ll have a blue Christmas without you I’ll be so blue just thinking about you Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree Won’t be the same dear, if you’re not here with me
I'll have a blue Christmas, that's certain; And when that blue heartache starts hurting, You'll be doing all right with your Christmas of white, But I'll have a blue, blue, blue Christmas.
(instrumental break)
And when those blue snowflakes start falling That’s when those blue memories start calling You’ll be doin’ all right, with your Christmas of white But I’ll have a blue, blue, blue Christmas
